Tetsuya Mizuguchi No Longer Developing

Tetsuya Mizuguchi, co-founder of Q Entertainment and notable for designing Rez and Child of Eden, is currently no longer developing new titles.

Mizuguchi, now considered a “spokesperson” for his company, has stepped away from producing videogames. However, this is not the end of his game career according to Nobuhiko Shimizu, director at Q Entertainment. During an interview with Eurogamer the director said, “Right now Mizuguchi does not produce the games. He’s now more of a spokesperson. He’s not developing stuff right now.”

Q Entertainment later contacted Eurogamer to clarify Shimizu’s statement. “Mizuguchi was dedicated to the game development direction for Child of Eden,” the company said, “but now he does not do very much.”

After the release of Lumines 2 in 2007, Mizuguchi focused more on his music project, Genki Rockets, instead of producing anymore videogames. Q Entertainment commented that he has taken a similar position in the company as he did then.

The company is currently creating a hybrid genre consisting of a combination of card-battles and music.
