Two days ago, Square-Enix announced a new web-based gaming service that will ultimately allow users to play high quality games on their internet browsers. This service will rely upon micro-transactions.
With a popular set of games on launch, including Hitman: Blood Money, Mini Ninjas and Tomb Raider and the Guardian of Light and Tomb Raider: Underworld, users can also choose to watch ads to play these games without paying. As for game data and saves, they will be stored in “the cloud”. And for your information, games that make use of the ads have yet to be determined.
CoreOnline currently runs with Google Chrome, Firefox and of course Internet Explorer, but does require the installation of the Square-Enix launching software to be made compatible with them
