Sony Announced Fresh New Game Puppeteer

Puppeteer Announced by Sony at Gamescom with Trailer and Screenshots

Sony announced a brand new IP PlayStation 3 title at Gamescom called Puppeteer. The reveal was accompanied by a trailer and a bunch of screenshots.

Announced by Sony at Gamescom, Puppeteer is a fresh new title exclusive to the PlayStation 3 platform, developed in-house by Sony’s JAPAN Studio. The platformer follows a young boy named Kutaro, who is kidnapped by the evil Moon Bear King and is transformed into a puppet. Kutaro angers Moon Bear King, and consequently has his head devoured. Fortunately, Kutaro discovers a magical pair of scissors that helps him as he sets on a quest to get his head back, as well as find his own way back home.

The title eccentrically features dynamic changing interactive backgrounds, which can be seen in the trailer above, and involves platforming using Kutaro’s scissors in unique and interesting ways to, all to deliver an exciting and thrilling experience. As a result of the protagonist’s predicament, the player is also capable of changing their head at any time. Of course, I also can’t ignore the incredible use of theatrical techniques. The title makes use of the audience, lights, sets music and narration to deliver its story.

I must say that I’m quite impressed by this nifty little title. It looks really unique, bizarre, and entertaining. What do you think of how this videogame looks?

Puppeteeris expected to launch next year for the PlayStation 3.
