“Our U.S office mainly works to efficiently release the Japanese titles that Level-5 has created overseas and they are involved in production and distribution in the overseas territories,” Hino explained.
Level-5 have opened an office in North America, tasked with their first project for localizing Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, which is being published by Namco. The office, Level-5 International America, has brought in talent including Richard Honeywood, who used to handle localizing games at large companies such as Square Enix and Blizzard.
Akihiro Hino, CEO of Level-5, was asked what else they will be doing with the international market: “with Ni no Kuni, they are helping bring it to the overseas markets and potentially with other titles. In the future, we would potentially like to develop title overseas where Level-5 International America is taking the lead on developing for the overseas market.”
There is also a rumour floating around that Level-5 International America is working on Guild 01, or at least the Suda51’s side of the game, which is named Liberation Maiden. Nothing official has been said but there is an official rating by the OFC for the game, suggesting that it will release.
