The entire Dinobot crew, with the exception of Sludge, will become playable character’s in High Moon Studio’s recent Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. This will include parts for customising. Out September 11th.
High Moon Studios director Matt Tieger confirmed that a new downloadable content pack, featuring the Dinobots from Fall of Cybertron, will be making its way to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live this month.
The “Dinobot Destructor Pack” will include the various parts that comprise the four Dinobots, allowing players to customise their very own Cybertronian with the parts of Dinosaurs. The new pack will bring a new flavour to the online multiplayer, allowing players to race around the various stages as Dinosaurs. Furthermore, the pack will enable the player to participate in online matches as the Dinobots themselves.
Tieger mentioned that the development team were unable to include the Dinobots in the multiplayer early in development. “We had looked into putting the Dinobots in multiplayer very early on when we knew they would be in the main game. We had to make the call halfway through the project that they would not be in the competitive multiplayer.
“They have a different animation system, their rigs are different, and we didn’t know how we would fit them into the carefully balanced set of archetypes (cars, trucks, tanks, and planes). They didn’t fit any of those classes, and we couldn’t make a fifth class and have it be just the Dinobots.”
The solution came near the end of development, presumably when it was too late to include the characters into the retail launch. Each of the four characters were moulded to fit one of the title’s four classes. Grimlock, the T-Rex, was to become a Titan. Slug, the Triceratops, became an Infiltrator — the scout. Snarl, the Stegosaurus, became a Destroyer. Finally, Swoop, the Pteranodon, was fit into the Scientist class.
The DLC pack will be made available from September 11, 2012. The price has yet to be confirmed.
